What is required in a diabetic shoe?
Extra Depth
Has a full length, heel-to-toe filler that when removed provides a minimum of 3/16" of additional depth used to accommodate custom-molded or customized inserts.
Sturdy Materials
Diabetic shoes are required to be made of leather or other suitable material or equal quality. This means that any diabetic shoe provided will be made of durable materals that last.
Closures
Unlike sandels or slip-ons, diabetic shoes must have a closure to secure the foot. Closure styles include laces, velcro straps, bungees, and hybrid systems.
Custom Diabetic Insert
Custom insets are total contact custom fabricated devices made from multiple densities of foam. They are made from a cast or 3D scan that are designed to correct biomechanical imbalances, offload pressure spots or wounds, or correct mild ankle collapse.

We recommend a new appointment be made with your diabetic treating MD or DO specifically to go over the packet and have the appropriate foot exam.
